Hey, everyone, this week was a busy week. Monday we stayed in Alton and hung out with Lynn.
Tuesday we saw Melvin and Tonya. We read out of the Book of Mormon with him and it went well. We also saw Tonya and we helped her paint her kitchen it was good but I being tall had to get all the high hard to reach places. We also had dinner with Lynn as well. Gotta love going to Lynn's.
Wednesday we had a busy day we saw the haws family, Bays family, Annie and Nolan, Rikki, Brandee Bingham and Ashlyn. We were also on exchanges. I had Elder Gifford with me and it was a good day and exchange. I really like and trust Elder Gifford.
Thursday we had district meeting and it went well. We had exchanges again with the Zone Leaders. I went with Elder Sager's and Elder G. his name isn’t really Elder G he is an islander and there is no way that I could ever spell his name correctly. Anyway, we had a lot of fun, we joked around the whole time. One of my favorite exchanges because of how fun it was. The one thing I didn't like was I slept on the floor. Because I was too big for the couches. It was terrible I didn't fall asleep until midnight and I woke up every 30 minutes. Then in the morning we all woke up at 6am and played basketball which I was okay with. We drove to Glen Carbon and had another exchange, except I stayed with Elder Cardiff and Estes and Gifford went to Alton. We had a good time in Glen Carbon we had an amazing dinner. I overate so much it was crazy.
Saturday it was good to be back in Alton. We didn’t get to see much of Lynn because he was working but we met with Wendi Schneider, The Mahias family and Larry Farrar, all good visits.
Sunday was good we met with Eric Hankins. You all might remember that name because I taught Eric while I was in the Edwardsville area and he moved to Alton well Eric has been going through a hard time his landlord was being terrible o him and he was homeless for 14 days. It was a humbling experience for him and he just cried almost the whole time we were there. It was tough. We also saw Aiden he is 13 years old and he is the only member in his house. His family is giving him a hard time. We had a good lesson and went to Lynn's. I hadn't been there in such a long time.
It was a good week this week we were busy and had fun. Having fun is something so undervalued in missionary work.
The scriptures are so amazing both the bible and the book of Mormon. One story I like in the bible is the story of Elijah in 1 kings chapter 17. It shows the importance and the value of having a true prophet. I would encourage you to go and read that story. I know Prophets are important and I am thankful we have one today leading and guiding this church.
Love,
Elder Washburn
